A rare survivor found in the bottom of a sewing box. This little decorative gilded card fan is a carnet de bal with each leaf stamped in gold with the title of a dance-Walzer, Galopp, Polka, Francaise and Cotillion. It was waiting to be filled with the names of pre-arranged dance partners but was never used. The little lead pencil is unmarked. Mid 19th century
This one is in particularly good condition with no tears or finger marks. Likely to be German because of the spellings galopp and walzer.
