Found in the bottom of an old workbox, this skein holder was hand made using a fine lawn handkerchief with its lace trim circa 1830. It is divided into four compartments and has pieces of card wrapped with ribbons and threads. The sections are divided by feather stitch in green silk.
Most likely a gift to the original owner of the box. c1830.
