A wooden playing card box dating to the early 19th century circa 1830. The blonde coloured wood is varnished and has a sliding lid decorated with a print of old playing cards and pen and ink work.
The interior is lined with a raspberry coloured paper which is the original and typical of the period.
The print of the cards depicts the style of the time with square corners, no numbers and the court card being one sided.
In excellent condition- there is a little minor damage to the top corner where the lid slides in ( see last two photos ) so the lid is now a little loose when fitted unless it is pushed right up to the opposite side.
